I want to join the millitary when I'm older but dont know what contract?

So basically when I enlist I know I want to be in the Army, and I want to end up in 1st SOFD-D but I'm torn between taking an option 40 contract, and ping to join the 75th Ranger regiment, or, taking an 18x and going straight to trying out for 1st SOFD-D but should I fail on an 18x I don't wanna end up as a janitor or something. Atleast on an option 40 if I fail the selection process for 1st SOFD-D then I can go back to being a Ranger, correct?
